Revise Your Entertaining Space

Your honored guests are coming over and appreciate your fabulous hosting skills. So you’re not fumbling through bottles of Kahlua that no one liked the last time they came over, let’s get your wet bar in tip-top shape before the guests arrive! 

When considering what to put where, start with what you actually like and want to keep (sorry, Kahlua). Sort through all the like things (in this case, bottles and glasses), and try different groupings.

Do the items look better arranged by size? Shape? Color? Can you put the brandy glasses with the brandy? Wine glasses with wine? There’s no wrong way to do it; just trust your instincts. 

In this bar niche, we took everything out, discarded the bottles that weren’t favorites, and looked at only what was left. (Tip: Move the items to be discarded or donated to another area so they aren’t considered in the grouping step.) Specific types of alcohol were grouped, and then each grouping was arranged by bottle size to create an attractive entertaining space. 

To work in order, remember the acronym SPACE (as in, Revise Your, hehe):

  S - Sort
  P - Purge 
  A - Assign (a home/group/category)
  C - Contain (arrange the groups in their new home)
  E - Evaluate  (is it going to work for you?)
