Preparing for the organizing session heading

Preparing for the Organizing Session

So now that you've spoken to  Lilly, you're probably wondering, "What happens next?" Below are some pointers outlining what you can expect.

What can I expect during the first session?
  1. Lilly will meet you at the place to be organized.
  2. We will walk around together, talking about the entire space, not just the space to be organized. This helps Lilly get a feel for places items could be stored, whether there are storage items that could be repurposed, etc.
  3. Plan to have a place to sit down together so we can discuss our plan of action, formulated during the walk-around, and go over the contract.
  4. If time permits, we will start brainstorming about where to begin the physical organizing in our next session.
  5. Have your calendar ready so we can plan the first three-hour (or more) session.

Ways to prepare for the Organizing Session:
  • Make sure you are well hydrated and have eaten a good meal before we begin.
  • Get enough sleep the night before our session.

To make the best use of our time together, I ask that you:
  • Limit phone calls/messages you take during our session so as to minimize distractions (Lilly    will do the same).
  • Arrange for childcare during our session (as applicable).
  • Secure any pets during our session (as applicable).

During our hands-on organizing session:
  1. We will discuss the plan of action for the day (what room to start in, what we're hoping to accomplish, etc.)
  2. We will start the physical organizing process (either with your hands-on help  or simply with your guidance), sorting through your belongings.
  3. Let's remember to stay hydrated and have a snack as needed.
  4. The last 15 minutes of the session, we will discuss what we accomplished, set our next appointment, and take payment for the session (if not already pre-paid).
  5. You will have a last chance to look through any items to be donated, and Lilly will remove them from the premises.
